It’s BBQ season – Ideas for the Grill
Summer is just around the corner and so is Father’s Day so it’s time to fire up the grill! As many are discovering new recipes while staying at home more, why not try some new ideas for the grill? You might think about grilling vegetables when barbecuing, but how about fruit? When fruit is grilled, it evaporates some of the water in it, concentrating the sugars. Plus, the sugars on the surface of the fruit become caramelized when grilled, creating flecks of crunchy, sweet goodness. Stone fruits, such as peaches and nectarines, can be halved and grilled cut side down or kebab style brushed with oil and sprinkled lightly with cinnamon. Add a cocktail to your meal by grilling some cherries. A Grilled Cherry Sour made with gin makes for a refreshing beverage. Pro tip: Use a grilling basket so cherries don’t fall through the grates. Bon Appetit!

With everyone staying home cooking and baking, we’d love to share your creations. If anyone has any photos or recipes they’d like to share with fellow market-goers, please email them to us at info@vccfm.org
